New Light From Old Collections: Medieval Archaeology In Armenia’s Museums, American Research Institute of the South Caucasus via Zoom, November 8, 2022

This virtual workshop will center on the potential contained in Armenia’s museums, which store and preserve medieval materials from systematic excavations as well as chance finds from the last century. The workshop will take the form of a conversation in English among medieval archaeologists working on complementary aspects and in different contexts. The participants will discuss recent ARISC-supported collaborative work between the Vayots Dzor Silk Road Survey and the Yeghegnadzor Regional Museum. Topics will include challenges and possibilities for incorporating historical collections into ongoing research and heritage discourse.
