The Institut Français d'Études Anatoliennes d'Istanbul (IFEA) in collaboration with the Department of History, the Department of Archaeology and the Program in Cultures, Civilizations and Ideas at Bilkent University, the Department of  Art History at Hacettepe University, ANAMED-Koç University, and Byzantium at Ankara is happy to announce a HYBRID lecture series in Fall 2022 with the title "Zooming in on Byzantine cities: Αἱ ἀληθείαι τῶν πόλεων."

The last event of the series will be held in a hybrid mode on Saturday, 17 December, at Bilkent University. You can join the event in person (Bilkent University, A-Building FEASS, C-Amphi) or via Zoom on the day of the event.

The language of the Lecture Series is English. The first session of the event will start at 10:40 with a panel entitled "Seljuk Views of Byzantium," which will see the participation of Oya Pancaroglu (Boğaziçi University), Dimitri Korobeinikov (University of Albany), and Alexander Beihammer (Notre Dame University). The second panel, "Late Byzantium and its viewers," will see Michael Chatzidakis (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin), Siren Çelik (Marmara University) as discussants, and Scott Kennedy (Bilkent University) as respondent.

The closing keynote speech of the lecture series will be delivered by Alessandra Ricci (Koç University).
