Warren T. Woodfin,  Kallinikeion Assistant Professor of Art History, Queens College, City University of New York, and guest curator for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s current exhibition Liturgical Textiles of the Post-Byzantine World, on view through November 1, 2015, gives a brief introduction to the history of liturgical vestments in the Byzantine church in his blog post, Why Vestments?
