Trinity College in Hartford, CT invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer position open to early-career scholars (no more than four years past the date of PhD conferral), beginning July 1, 2020. The position has a 2/2 course load and involves some departmental service, as appropriate to learning what is entailed in fostering the “life of the department” at a small liberal arts college. After the first year, the position may be renewed for a maximum additional two years.
We seek candidates with experience teaching Greek and/or Latin, and Classical Studies courses in translation; teaching experience as the instructor of record is helpful but not required for this position. Candidates with PhD in hand and one or more of the following specializations will be preferred: historiography; political biography; geography; environmental change; human migration; slavery; the reception of classical antiquity in contemporary studies of human rights and/or video-game culture. Candidates must be willing to develop a strong commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate liberal arts environment; experiential learning is an emerging priority at Trinity.
