The Thomas B. Hagen Department of History at Mercyhurst University seeks a one-year, nonrenewable Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2022-2023 academic year. Successful candidates will have the ability to offer general courses in ancient and medieval Europe and the Mediterranean and upper division courses in areas of their specialty. Candidates who can additionally offer general courses in ancient world history will be strongly considered. Additional duties include participating in recruitment at the department, college, and university levels and participating in departmental and university-wide activities. 

A Ph.D. is preferred, but exceptional ABD candidates will be considered. Standard contracts at the university run 9 months (August 15-May 15) with 12-credit hours per semester load.
