The Departments of Classics and History at Gettysburg College seek a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics and History whose teaching and scholarly interests are in Greek and Roman history and the intersection of Greek and Roman cultures with other Mediterranean civilizations.

We seek candidates dedicated to teaching within the liberal arts environment, who are willing to create innovative courses and to promote cooperation with other departments. The teaching load is three courses each semester.

Ph.D. in Classics or Ancient History preferred, although advanced ABD applicants will be considered if degree will be received before the start of the Fall 2018 semester. Must be able to teach Greek and Roman history, Greek and Latin language courses at all levels, an introductory level course on the history of the Ancient World, and 200 or 300-level electives that will contribute to the Classics and History programs.
