The Department of Art & Art History in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History for a one-year appointment beginning in Fall 2020. This is a full-time position with benefits; salary commensurate with experience.

The teaching load is 4:3. Courses include a global survey of art history, which serves as part of the university’s Core Fine Arts curriculum, the first half of the art history foundations curriculum surveying art history to the year 1400 CE; upper level art history courses on the ancient Near East, Greece, Rome, or Medieval art, defined globally; and/or online versions of these courses. Departmental service is expected.

The position is open to candidates with expertise in any area of global art history before 1400 CE and the ability to teach global surveys of art history to 1400 CE and upper level courses in ancient or medieval art history. Ph.D. in Art History in hand by August 16, 2020 is desired, but ABD candidates will be considered. 

Candidates with significant experience teaching at the college/university level and teaching online courses are highly desired.
