The Department of Christian History, Art and Archaeology of the Protestant Theological Faculty at the University of Vienna invites applications for a University Project Assistant (prae doc) beginning June 1st, 2020.
The successful applicant will actively participate in the research project of the critical edition of the Greek pseudo-Athanasian Psalm Commentary; this work will include in particular transcribing and collating relevant Greek manuscripts. The commentary has been handed down in catenae only and is to be made accessible on the basis of a digital critical edition, which will present the level of transcribed manuscripts as well as catenae types and a possibly reconstructable pseudo-Athanasian psalm commentary. The relevant manuscripts must be transcribed, collated for a critical edition and also similia have to be made accessible.
The successful applicant will work with another Greek philologist and a computer scientist in the team as well as with the “Arbeitsstelle zur alexandrinischen und antiochenischen Bibelexegese” of the BBAW (Berlin).
An accompanying dissertation project is possible and can be supervised (Dr. theol. or PhD).
Qualifications
- The prerequisite is a university degree, either in Classical Philology or in related subjects such as Byzantine Studies, History or Theology.
- A great interest in history of Christianity in Late Antiquity,fluent in English, a willingness to work in a team and good skills in dealing with EDP are expected.
