The Department of History and Cultural Studies Friedrich Meinecke Institute at the Freie Universität Berlin invite applications for a University Professor of the History of Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages.
The successful candidate should have a research focus in the history of late antiquity and the early Middle Ages, as well as an excellent record of research activities with international visibility that cover and connect these two periods of history. They should have international teaching experience at the university level and experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects. Candidates must have excellent knowledge of German and English and thus be able to teach in the respective language.
The new professor is also expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary work being done in conjunction with the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies. They should demonstrate sensitivity to gender and diversity issues in the context of their teaching, research, and administrative duties.
