Haverford College invites applications for a two-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in Visual Studies for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years, beginning July 1, 2023. Specialization in the theory, history, interpretation, politics, ethics, culture, and/or aesthetics of the visual is required, as is the ability to theorize or critique the visual and visuality through a distinctly interdisciplinary lens and methodological approach. Priority will be given to applicants whose scholarly interests and teaching engage issues of race broadly defined. Teaching responsibilities in a five-course load will include an Introduction to Visual Studies class as well as courses at all levels of the curriculum, including within the area of the candidate’s specialization.
Candidates for the position should have a PhD in a relevant area in hand by May 1, 2023.
