Applications are invited for a 0.7 FTE Teaching Fellow position in History of Art, in any area of Medieval Art or a closely related area. The position will start on 1 August 2018, fixed term for 12 months. The creation of the position is the result of Dr Heather Pulliam’s successful award of a Leverhulme Fellowship and the successful applicant will be a specialist in any area of Medieval Art. We welcome candidates who have a rounded interest in the history of art as a discipline, including its theories and methods and historiography, as well as professional applications.
At undergraduate level, the successful applicant will teach into the BA (Hons) History of Art and the BA (Hons) Fine Art programmes. Teaching on these programmes will typically involve the following each year: a lecture series at pre-honours level (years 1-2); 2 seminar based courses at honours level (years 3-4); supervision of student dissertations and project work.
At postgraduate level, the successful candidate will teach into the Masters programme History of Art, Theory and Display. In a normal year, the appointee will be expected to teach a seminar based course at this level and also supervise student dissertations.
A PhD or equivalent research experience is essential, as is evidence of excellent teaching. An understanding of ECA’s multidisciplinary ethos is important. Finally, the successful applicant will be expected to make an appropriate contribution to the administration and management of the subject area.
