Teaching Associate in Late Antique and Early Medieval History, University of Sheffield lead image

The Department of History at the University of Sheffield is seeking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Late Antique and Early Medieval History from 1 September 2019 to 30 June 2020.

This fixed-term post is to provide teaching cover for Undergraduate and MA courses in Ancient and Medieval History. The successful candidate will be required to teach the Level Two module ‘HST230 The Family in Late Antiquity: Romans, Barbarians and Christians’ (and associated ‘Writing History’ assignments), lecture on ‘HST116 Empire: From the Ancient World to the Middle Ages’, and contribute to core and team-taught modules ‘HST120 History Workshop’ and ‘HST202 Historians and History’.

The successful candidate will have teaching and research strengths within their field and be expected to contribute to the Department’s presence within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the wider University and, through outreach and knowledge exchange, in Sheffield and beyond. The willingness to communicate to a variety of audiences beyond the purely academic is also useful for this position. The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent experience) in Ancient or Medieval History or a relevant subject area.
