As part of its mission to promote the study and interpretation of the built environment, the Society of Architectural Historians offers Annual Conference fellowships and grants.
For Conference Attendees
Keepers Preservation Education Fund Fellowship
One Fellowship of up to $1,000 annually supports the attendance of a graduate student in Historic Preservation at the SAH Annual International Conference. Preference will be given to a graduate student whose paper has been accepted for delivery at the conference.
For Conference Speakers
These fellowships are for speakers selected to present at the 2017 SAH Annual International Conference.
SAH Board Annual Conference Graduate Student Fellowships
Six fellowships, each of $1,000, will be awarded. These fellowships are only available for the 2017 conference and will be given to graduate students selected to make presentations at the conference.
Graduate Student Lightning Talk Volunteer Fellowship
SAH is offering the selected presenters of the Graduate Student Lightning Talks the opportunity to volunteer a minimum of six work hours during the conference in return for a refund of the basic registration fee.
Rosann S. Berry Fellowship
One fellowship of up to $1,000 annually supports the travel of an advanced graduate student member of SAH whose paper has been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference.
Spiro Kostof Fellowship
One fellowship of up to $1,000 annually supports the travel of an advanced graduate student member of SAH whose paper has been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference.
SAH Annual Conference Graduate Student Fellowships
Fellowships of up to $1,000 each support the attendance of advanced international graduate students whose papers have been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference. Research areas include Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as well as built environments world wide (other than Europe) from ancient times to the present.
SAH Annual Conference Independent Scholar Fellowship
Fellowships of up to $1,000 each supports the travel of an independent scholar whose paper has been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference.
SAH Annual Conference Senior Scholar Fellowships
The annual fellowships of up to $1,000 each support the travel of senior-level, international scholars whose papers have been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference. Research areas include Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as well as built environments world wide (other than Europe) from ancient times to the present.
Scott Opler Emerging Scholar Fellowships
Fellowships of up to $1,000 each support emerging scholars whose papers have been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference. Although not restricted by subject area, applicants must be an emerging scholar, a person who, regardless of age, is within five years of having received a terminal degree (PhD) in architectural history or a related discipline.
Scott Opler Graduate Student Fellowships
Fellowships of up to $1,000 each support the travel of advanced graduate students whose papers have been accepted for delivery at the SAH Annual International Conference. Although not restricted by subject area, applicants must be advanced graduate students in the field of architectural history or a related discipline.
Gill Family Foundation Graduate Student Fellowships
Established in 2016 by the Gill Family Foundation, this fellowship program supports attendance of graduate students from North America at the SAH 2017 Annual International Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. Five fellowships, each of $1,000, will be awarded to graduate students who are presenting Graduate Student Lightning Talks or delivering papers. This fellowship is only available for the 2017 conference.
