The editorial board of the Römisches Jahrbuch der Bibliotheca Hertziana invites submissions for its next issue, volume 43, which is expected to be published in September 2019.
Founded in 1937, the journal is published annually and features innovative and interdisciplinary studies of a vast methodological spectrum, focusing in particular on Roman, Italian and Mediterranean art and cultural history in its European and global context as well as broader aesthetic questions concerning the history of science or the history of media. The Römisches Jahrbuch provides a forum for the latest methodological and content-related debates in art history, thus contributing to the further development of the academic discipline. All articles approved by the Editorial Committee are subject to double-blind review by international experts and receive professional editing and comprehensive proofreading. The Römisches Jahrbuch is available in print and, starting in 2019, electronically. The hardcover edition is distributed by the publishing house Hirmer based in Munich, Germany.
Essays may be submitted in German, English, Italian or French. The average article length is between 80,000 – 120,000 characters (spaces included), but in exceptional cases contributions of up to 250,000 characters may be accepted.
