The Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts invites applications for the position of researcher at the photo archive of the Rome Department. The position is full time, from 01.09.2018 to 31.08.2019.
Job requirements include:
- Scientific and administrative management of the photo library, including personnel and budget responsibility
- Project management in the areas of digitization and research of holdings in the digital research infrastructure of the DAI, archiving of inventories, image orders, photo campaigns and history of the photo library and its holdings
- Management of the institute's North Africa projects, including fundraising, budget management, project management and, if necessary, personnel management for scholarship program for Tunisian visiting scholars in Rome, coordination of cooperation with the University of Tunis and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and, if necessary, capacity building in archaeological fieldwork, building and findings recording, conservation and museum development in Carthage and surrounding areas
The successful application will have
- A postgraduate academic degree in a field of classical studies (Classical Archeology, Christian Archeology, Prehistory and Early History, Byzantine Studies, Historical Building Research)
- Good knowledge of spoken and written Italian
Further qualifications include:
- Active experience in the management of scientific projects
- Knowledge of digital knowledge management
- French skills
- Practical experience in archeological fieldwork
- Good knowledge of the archeology of the working area of the department, in particular Italy and Tunisia
