The UCL Institute of Archaeology is one of the leading academic departments of archaeology in the UK and globally. The Institute is the largest department in its field in the UK, with an international graduate research community, and the broadest range of coverage of any UK department.

We are looking to appoint a Research Associate to join the MedSTACH project (Eastern Mediterranean Science and Technology Centre of Excellence for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage), an EU-funded project whose aim is to establish Cyprus as a regional hub for computational, spatial and other scientific approaches to archaeology and cultural heritage in Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean area.

The principal duty of the Research Associate will be to assist with scoping the current state-of-the-art in terms of computational, spatial and other scientific approaches to archaeology and cultural heritage, both in the eastern Mediterranean and worldwide, with a view to identifying particular ways in which a Cyprus-based centre might excel.

The post is available from 1 February 2018, funded until 31 August 2018.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in archaeology or a related discipline (completed or in final stages*). They will have a track record of working in the Eastern Mediterranean. They will also have experience in computational, digital and/or materials science approaches and a proven ability to undertake research of the highest quality.
