Reporting to the Expedition Administrator for the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis, the Publications Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating and assisting with the production of monographs in the Sardis series. This includes working closely with authors, editors, vendors and Sardis and museum staff in the preparation of manuscripts and the production of monographs.

Please note: This is a one year position with the possibility of renewal based on business needs and continued funding.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for production and post-production process including compiling and distributing materials as well as communicating with affiliated research personnel at other locations or institutions as needed to accomplish responsibilities.
  • With the Data Manager, fact-check submitted manuscripts against original data (field books, databases, plans, etc.).
  • Coordinate with external editors, indexers, designers, and other specialists involved in the preparation of volumes to ensure book production meets deadlines and follows the editorial policies of the Sardis publication series.
  • Help identify relevant plans, photographs, and drawings in the records of the Sardis office, together with the authors.
  • Compile drafts of visual media and manuscripts for submission to readers, designers, and other specialists involved in the preparation of volumes.
  • Oversee compilation and proofreading process of indexes and tables of contents; and assist with editing and bibliographical referencing as needed.
  • May oversee student worker(s) in the undertaking of more routine tasks.
  • Assists with other departmental activities as needed.
