A fantastic opportunity has arisen at the British Museum for a Project Curator to support the Leverhulme Trust funded ‘Empires of Faith’ research programme, which focuses on religious imagery, material culture and their political and social contexts in the time period c.200 to 800 CE from the Mediterranean to South Asia.

As Project Curator, you will collaborate with other programme staff to ensure the successful delivery of the exhibition ‘Encounters: Art and the rise of world religions’, which will be displayed at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford from 2017 till January 2018. This role will also involve contributing to the exhibition publications, alongside the Ashmolean Museum.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in Art History/Archaeology/a related subject with a focus on religious traditions, cultures and politics from the Mediterranean to South Asia c.200 to 800 CE, or equivalent. With demonstrable research and museum experience, you will also be experienced in project management.

We are looking for a team player who is a confident communicator, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of colleagues. You will be knowledgeable in appropriate material and visual culture and will have your own academic publications in preparation, or already published.
