Bard Graduate Center invites applications from scholars specializing in object-based studies of the arts and material culture of the ancient Mediterranean, the Near East and Egypt, with a preference for Greece and Rome. Candidates should demonstrate a substantial record of scholarly achievement, the ability to teach and supervise research broadly across the field, understood geographically, chronologically and conceptually, as well as a willingness to collaborate on study of the afterlives of antiquity. Bard Graduate Center is a graduate research institute committed to the study of the cultural history of the material world, drawing on methodologies and approaches from art and design history, economic and cultural history, history of technology, philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, and conservation.
