The Lise Meitner Research Group “Decay, Loss and Conservation in Art History” led by Francesca Borgo at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome seeks to appoint pre- and postdoctoral fellows.
The Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellows will conduct their own original research project within the overall framework of the Research Group. The successful candidates will actively participate in the Group’s activities and are expected to contribute to its publication output while benefiting from editorial and image licensing support. They will be responsible for planning and organizing seminars, workshops, visits and fieldtrips in collaboration with other team members and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Candidates should have excellent written and spoken English and be conversant in Italian and/or German.
We welcome applications from candidates in every field within the history of art, technical art history, conservation history and museum studies, with preference given to projects spanning traditional disciplinary boundaries.
The start date for the Postdoctoral Fellowship is September 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a one-year position with the possibility of extension.
The start date for the Predoctoral Fellowship is flexible within the academic year 2023/24. In order to be eligible, applicants to the Predoctoral Fellowship must be enrolled in a PhD program at a university.
The deadline for application for both fellowships is January 15, 2024. Both positions are full-time.
