The Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut (KHI) invites applications for the position of a full-time postdoctoral research collaborator (Wissenschaftliche Assistenz) in the department of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wolf, starting in July 2016 or later for a period of three years.

The research collaborator assumes a high degree of responsibility within the department, working closely with the director and should contribute to the scientific and organizational activities of the department and the institute. The collaborator is expected to pursue his/her own research as well, and to participate in projects of the KHI, an internationally oriented and broadly connected Max Planck Institute focused on Italian, Mediterranean, and global art histories. The department of Gerhard Wolf, in particular, is concerned with the new horizons of art history, transcultural interactions over long and short distances, and a critical discussion of the methodological implications and consequences of these global perspectives of the discipline.

We invite applications from art historians, as well as those working in related disciplines. Applicants must hold a doctorate/PhD degree and demonstrate proficiency in at least two foreign languages and preferably have a good command of German. The position requires flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team. The research collaborator is expected to reside in Florence. The position is awarded without regard to nationality.

Salary and benefits will be determined according to German or Italian contract conditions.
