The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy. 

The Chair of Modern and Contemporary History (Prof. Dr. Manuel Borutta) in the Department of History, Sociology, Empirical Educational Research and Sport Science at University of Konstanz advertises a fulltime postdoc position to be filled by 1 January 2023, available for 3 years until 31 December 2025. 

The Department of History plans to establish an international English language master’s degree programme across the ages. The transepochal and interdisciplinary research initiative „Re-Narrating the Mediterranean: Mediterranean Platform“ at the humanities section of the University of Konstanz organizes regular research colloquia, conferences, workshops for researchers, teaching staff and students. The successful candidate is expected to closely collaborate on the two projects. There is no obligation to teach but it would be desirable if the candidate could offer courses in English for the master’s degree programme „Mediterranean History“. 

Applicants should have received their doctoral degree between October 31, 2020 and December 31, 2022.
