The Haifa Center for Mediterranean History (HCMH) seeks applications for one postdoctoral fellowship for the academic year 2018-19. HCMH, which began its work last year, promotes the historical study of the pre-modern Mediterranean in Haifa, and aims to connect it to the vibrant international networks of Mediterranean research. We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate proven academic excellence in their respective fields of expertise, together with an extensive background in Mediterranean studies. We encourage applications from candidates working in all related fields. The eastern Mediterranean basin, and/or environmental history are themes of particular interest.

We expect the successful candidate to devote his/her time to research, be present on the Haifa campus and to take an active role in the academic life of HCMH: attend all seminars and lectures, present their research in different forums, meet informally with advanced students, etc.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by the beginning of the fellowship tenure period, and no longer than 5 years.
