The Coptic Scriptorium project is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities (August 1, 2023 - July 31, 2024). Coptic Scriptorium is an interdisciplinary project dedicated to making resources available online for Coptic. We are looking for a collaborative scholar with expertise in the Coptic language and Coptic literature to join our team and contribute to our growing database of richly annotated Coptic materials. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with other team members on digitizing Coptic literature via various methods.
In addition, the postdoc will have dedicated time for their own independent research project.
The Postdoctoral Fellow may work remotely and is not required to relocate if they do not already live in Norman, Oklahoma. The Postdoc must be willing to travel to attend in-person meetings or workshops 1-3 times per year (travel expenses to be paid by OU) and to attend virtual weekly meetings. (Virtual
meetings may be more frequent during the initial training period.)
Candidates should have a Ph.D. conferred prior to August 1 in a relevant field (Religious Studies, Linguistics, Classics, Egyptology, etc.). Formal education in the Coptic language (preferably at the graduate level) is necessary. Sahidic dialect is required, other dialects are desirable.
