The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European Non-profit Science and Technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its four Research Centres: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C). Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the STARC centre of the Institute as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Digital Cultural Heritage. The successful candidate will pursue research in the broader domain of Digital Cultural Heritage, with a focus on the development of knowledge repositories, domain-ontologies and semantic descriptions of data. In particular, the successful candidate will be involved in the development of Digital Twins for the conservation, preservation and valorization of tangible and intangible cultural heritage assets, through the integration of multi-sensors data, analytical, imaging and digital. Special attention will be devoted to the novel implementation of 3D technologies for the development of a semantic-aware Digital Twin for a broad range of stakeholders in the field of Cultural Heritage.
The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 24 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
The successful application will have a PhD in one of the following: Digital Cultural Heritage, Digital Humanities, Social Sciences and Humanities with a background in semantic technologies/data sciences, or Data sciences/semantic technologies with a strong background in Cultural Heritage.
