Papyrology for non-specialists, ENCODE Winter School, Würzburg University, February 14–17, 2022
The Department of Classics at Würzburg University invites students, academics and professionals in Classics, Ancient History and Ancient Philosophy to participate in the ENCODE Winter School "Papyrology for non-specialists."
The goal of the school is twofold: It is aimed both at non-specialists who seek a first introduction into papyrology and at papyrologists who are teaching papyrology to students of other subjects. We intend to present and to put into practice a range of methods to make Greek and Latin papyri accessible to the non-specialist, with a focus on digital tools and resources. In this way, we hope to provide beginners with an introduction and a possibility to meet papyrologists, and fellow papyrologists with new ideas and digital methods of teaching.
The winter school will be followed by a Conference on Papyri and Crowdsourcing in the afternoon of February 17, 2022.
The number of participants is limited to 18. Participation is free of charge. Participation is possible both in person and online. Previous digital skills and experience in papyrology are not required, but participants should have knowledge of Greek and Latin.
