Othello's Island 2017, Fifth Annual Conference on Medieval, Renaissance and Early Modern Studies, Nicosia, April 5–8, 2017
Attracting speakers from all over the world, Othello's Island is the conference to present and discover the latest research on the medieval, renaissance and early modern periods, and to make new connections between the different disciplines.
Othello's Island Conference is not only about Cyprus or the Levant. It is a broad-ranging and truly multidisciplinary conference. With this in mind, we welcome proposals to deliver papers at the 2017 conference, on art, literary and other forms of history, cultural studies and other areas of academic research, relating to the medieval, renaissance and early modern periods, and also their subsequent legacies. We are interested in hearing papers on diverse aspects of medieval and renaissance literature, art, history, society and other aspects of culture, and these do not have to be specifically related to Cyprus or the Mediterranean.
Obviously, we recognise the perimeters of labels such as 'medieval' and 'early modern' are highly fluid, and so we are flexible on what they might mean. As a general guide we go from about the year 450, until about the year 1700 (AD/CE).
All papers must be delivered in English and in person by the author of the paper.
