The Department of Classics, Palacký University of Olomouc (Czech Republic), welcomes expressions of interest from young foreign researchers who intend to apply to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme 2022 (MSCA-Postdoctoral Fellowship). Selected candidates will be offered administrative and academic support from our staff with regard to the proposal development.
The duration of the fellowship is 24 months. Applicants should have a doctorate at the call deadline (September 14, 2022) and no more than 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience from receipt of the doctorate. Researchers should not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc.) in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline. The expression of interest is open to proposals that align with our department’s ambition to become an interdisciplinary center at Palacký University. We are interested in supporting a wide array of research areas covering the period from the Early to the Late Middle Ages (both in the Byzantine East and in the Latin West). Topics can include but are not limited to the following themes:
- Texts and society:
- rhetoric and performance;
- the reception of classics;
- epistolography and social networks;
- narratives of authority;
- processes of translation;
- manuscript production.
- Social history:
- social structures and mobility;
- slavery and slave trade;
- migration, borders, and space.
- Gender and age relations.
- Digital Humanities: approaches to the pre-modern world.
