The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Research Fellowships support the career development of outstanding postdocs from all fields of research. The LMU Research Fellowship Program gives early-stage postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to carry out an independent research project with the support of an LMU professor and enhances their career development by fostering the training and mobility of fellows.
LMU Research Fellowships are granted for a period of two years. In addition to an attractive salary and a substantial research budget, you will be provided with a workplace within one of our Faculties and may also become involved in teaching. During the entire period of your fellowship, you will be supported by a professor from LMU who will function as your mentor. As a member of the Young Center, you will also be associated with the Center for Advanced Studies and may make use of its various services.
Ten Incoming LMU Research Fellowships and five Outgoing LMU Research Fellowships will be awarded to outstanding international junior researchers from all fields of research.
The Incoming LMU Research Fellowships are directed at outstanding international junior researchers from all fields of research. They are designed to promote the career development of early-career postdoctoral researchers by fostering their mobility and supporting them in developing their academic profile.
The Outgoing LMU Research Fellowships are directed at outstanding junior researchers in all fields of research who have completed their doctorates in the last twelve months or are about to do so. The program also gives LMU doctorate holders the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. The Fellowships are designed to promote the career development of early-career postdoctoral researchers by fostering their mobility and supporting them in developing their academic profile.
