Applications are invited for Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships from suitably qualified researchers wishing to base their work in the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at the University of Oxford. The scheme is designed to support scholars at a relatively early stage of their careers, but with a proven record of research. Applicants must have submitted their doctoral thesis by 4pm on the closing date of 27 February 2020, and no more than four years before the closing date; so those who formally submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination before 27 February 2016 are not eligible (unless they have had a career break).
Fellowships are tenable for three years on a full-time basis and are intended as an opportunity to undertake a significant piece of publishable research.
A previous connection with Oxford is not required. Thus applications are particularly welcome from those who are currently working elsewhere. Applicants must either hold a degree from a UK higher education institution at the time of taking up the Fellowship or at the time of the application deadline must hold an academic position in the UK (e.g. fixed-term lectureship, fellowship) which commenced no less than 4 months prior to the closing date.
The Fellowship requires the support of a member of the Faculty willing to act as Mentor.
