The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at University of Oxford invites applications for Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships from suitably qualified researchers wishing to base their work in the Faculty. The scheme is designed to support scholars at a relatively early stage of their careers, but with a proven record of research. Applicants must have submitted their doctoral thesis by 4pm on the closing date of 23 February 2023, and no more than four years before the closing date; so those who formally submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination before 23 February 2019 are not eligible (unless they have had a career break or can make a case that their progress was impacted by Covid-19).
Fellowships are tenable for three years on a full-time basis and are intended as an opportunity to undertake a significant piece of publishable research. A previous connection with Oxford is not required and the Leverhulme Trust values mobility highly.
The Faculty will hold an internal competition to decide which application(s) will be put forward under the scheme. Applicants should identify a named mentor from among the permanent members of the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, who must provide a statement of support.
Once the Faculty has considered the applications received, the successful applicant(s) will be supported by our Research Facilitator in the completion of the full application to the Leverhulme Trust.
