Through the generosity of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the University of Exeter College of Humanities wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Hellenic Studies. This full-time, fixed-term post is available from 1st September 2018 to 31st August 2021. The successful applicant will carry out and publish research, give papers, organise an international conference and do a limited amount of teaching.
The research to be carried out can be on any aspect of ancient Greek culture (e.g. art, history, literature, medicine, philosophy, scholarship, social/political practice) that falls within either the Centre for Hellenistic and Romano-Greek Culture and Society or the Centre for Knowledge in Culture in Antiquity and Beyond. Research synergies with other members of the Department are also desirable.
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to carry out and publish research in Hellenic Studies, and to support and contribute to seminars and conferences at the same level. They will demonstrate the potential to teach effectively in their area of expertise.
