The Department of History at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Environmental History. This is a full-time indefinite appointment to start 2nd January 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is open to environmental historians of all chronological periods (from ancient to contemporary history) and all geographic regions of the world. The department is particularly keen to appoint a candidate who works on geographical areas that are currently under-represented in the department's curriculum (see Further Particulars and department website). The candidate should have an excellent profile in teaching and research, as well as concrete plans for future projects and outputs. 

The successful applicant will have experience of undergraduate teaching (preferably including the design and delivery of their own modules) and will be expected to be able to design and teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules and supervise doctoral students. An ability to be able to contribute to one or more of our postgraduate programmes – Masters in History, International and Military History, War and Diplomacy, Digital Humanities, and PGCert in Regional and Local History – would be an advantage. In addition, the candidate will make a more general contribution to the department’s teaching programme at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, for example by contributing to team-taught modules and supervising dissertations.

Applicant should have completed their PhD.
