The University of Kent School of History seeks to appoint an early modern historian with an expertise in Europe's interactions with the Islamic world. This is a fixed-term replacement role for three years, starting September 2019. Applications from specialists who can convene and teach in any area of the shared history of the Christian- and Islamic world c. 1450-1800 are particularly welcome.
The ideal candidate should be an outstanding early-career scholar, with a research portfolio in either early modern Ottoman history, early modern Mediterranean history or in intellectual, religious or economic history involving the early modern Christian and Islamic world, and on course to make a significant contribution to REF2021.
