The Department of History at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Humanities. This is a full-time indefinite appointment to start 1 Sept 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department wishes to attract an innovative academic with expertise in Digital Humanities (DH) who can apply it in ways that can attract and inspire History students to the field. We are interested in any aspect of DH including, but not limited to: digital history, digital cultural heritage, GLAMs, computational linguistics, text mining, network analysis, image processing, digital media, or 3D modelling. These approaches can be applied to any historical period, topic or geographical area. We are also open to scholars critically engaged with DH, including feminist and critical race approaches. You should have an excellent profile in teaching and research as well as concrete plans for future projects and outputs.
You will have experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in history or a related discipline, preferably including the design and delivery of your own modules. You will be expected to contribute to our MA in Digital Humanities and planned MA in Digital Heritage, as well as providing popular modules for our undergraduate History programme. It is likely that the successful candidate will be able to ‘phase in’ their teaching during the period 2022/3-2024/5.
