The Department of History, Classics and Archaeology, Birkbeck, University of London invites applications for a one-year full-time Lectureship in Classical Archaeology.

The ideal candidate will have completed a PhD or equivalent in any area of Classical Archaeology, and have a publication record that shows clear potential to contribute to the Department’s research-led teaching. They will provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in ancient history and archaeology, including on the level 4 (first year undergraduate) survey module ‘The Ancient World’ and an MA option module, ‘The City of Rome’. They will supervise BA and MA dissertation students, including primarily in the field of Roman archaeology. In addition the appointee will be asked to convene two MA programmes (Archaeological Practice and Classical Archaeology); experience in this area of academic administration would be invaluable as would some knowledge and experience of the heritage sector.
