University of St Andrews wishes to appoint two Lecturers in Ancient History, within the School of Classics, to start in September 2023. Both are standard positions.  

The successful candidates will be scholars with a growing international research reputation in the subject, with the expertise to deliver high-quality teaching across the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Ancient History, Ancient History & Archaeology, Classical Studies and Classics.  

We are open to appointing in any areas of Ancient History, broadly understood, with a special interest in candidates who can consolidate or extend our areas of subject expertise – from the Mycenaean period through to Late Antiquity and to include any sub-disciplinary or thematic approaches.
