The Herbst Program for Engineering, Ethics and Society in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a full-time Instructor position in the History, Philosophy, and/or Study of Science and Technology (STS), broadly defined. The ideal candidate will be ready to teach core texts in STS and/or the history of science and technology to undergraduate students in a seminar setting. Subfield is open. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience helping students in engineering, computing, or other STEM fields think deeply and critically about the roles of science and technology in human societies and cultures in the past, present, and future.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary program that engages a diverse body of CEAS students with the essential questions of human existence and will link those issues to the ethical practices of science and engineering. Candidates will contribute to Herbst’s mission by providing them the tools needed to contextualize, analyze, and critique the processes of scientific and technological development in a changing, diverse world.
