The University of Melbourne invites applications for the Hansen Lectureship in History (3 positions).

The Hansen Lectureship in History is part of a number of new appointments established to position the History Program at Melbourne at the forefront of innovation and excellence in History teaching, and to increase the public and engagement profile of History at the University of Melbourne.

The appointee will have a research specialisation in any aspect of History. The field of research and teaching in which the successful applicant is an expert is open. Each Hansen Lecturer will be expected to make contributions in the areas of teaching, engagement and research, including RHD supervision. The successful candidate will have the potential to achieve a high level of research performance through refereed publications and will be expected to develop plans for the securing of research grants either solely or in combination with more senior colleagues. A principal duty of the Hansen Lecturer in History will be to contribute to the development of innovation and excellence in History teaching, and to engage, nurture and to extend interest in the discipline within the broader community.
