The Harvard University Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS) offers residential postdoctoral fellowship opportunities for the 2023-24 academic year. The CHS funds both academic year fellowships (September 1, 2023 — May 24, 2024) and semester fellowships during either the Fall (September 1, 2023 — December 22, 2023) or the Spring (February 2, 2024 – May 24, 2024).

The purpose of the residential fellowship program is to encourage and support research of the highest quality on topics related to ancient Greek civilization.

The program aims to foster interaction among researchers from diverse academic backgrounds and regions of the world. Accordingly, the CHS welcomes both projects with a traditional disciplinary basis in Classics, and those that adopt interdisciplinary approaches drawn from fields across the humanities, social sciences, and/or natural sciences.

In addition to supporting scholars working independently, the CHS also welcomes applications from individuals engaged in collaborative research projects (such as co-written or co-edited volumes, digital databases, or software tools). Each member of a collaboration should apply individually for a fellowship and describe the nature of the collaboration on the application form.

The prerequisite for a fellowship is a PhD degree in Classics or a related field. Applicants must have defended their degree before July 1, 2022.
