Emotions Through Time: From Antiquity to Byzantium, A.G. Leventis Gallery, Nicosia, September 27–29, 2017
Emotions through Time: From Antiquity to Byzantium (ETT) is a Leverhulme Trust-funded international and interdisciplinary research network which examines the interactions between ancient and Byzantine emotion. Our aim is to explore the transformation and assimilation of ancient affectivity in Byzantium and the creation of new emotional paradigms and vocabulary.
This three-day conference, generously supported not only by the Leverhulme Trust, but also by the Leventis Foundation and the University of Cyprus, follows three work-in-progress workshops held at Edinburgh, Geneva and Vienna, in which the ETT network members and guests have discussed their research. The conference will present and disseminate the final outcome of the workshops to a wide audience, opening new opportunities for research in the history of ancient and Byzantine emotions.
