St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford proposes to create up to six Early Career Teaching and Research appointments associated with Junior Research Fellowships. These are fixed term, non renewable posts available for the period October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2022. The subject fields for which applications are sought include History, with a preferred focus on Medieval History.

The aim of these posts is to provide support to Tutorial Fellows in the subject areas with which they are associated, while providing an opportunity for the Fellow to undertake independent research. The duties of the Early Career Appointments will therefore include teaching and administration alongside research activity. It is expected that the appointees will spend approximately 50% of their time on teaching and administration, with the remainder spent on research activity. The precise balance of teaching and other administrative support (pastoral oversight, admissions, learning support) will be under the direction of the Tutorial Fellows in the subject(s) with which they are associated. Appointees will be expected to work in Oxford during weeks 0-9 of the University term.
