The University of Hamburg Faculty of Humanities, Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures invites applications for 2 Post-doctoral Research Associates and 2 Doctoral Research Associates for the ERC Project "The Development of Literacy in the Southern Caucasus" (DeLiCaTe).

Post-doctoral Research Associate (Codicology)
Specific duties include the publication of a monograph on the development of the literary canons in the ancient languages of the Caucasus and its codicological implications, and of further studies relating to the project as well as the organisation of scholarly events. Requirements include a university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate, xxcellent knowledge of the ancient languages of the Caucasus and surrounding languages, and experience in Christian literature and in manuscript studies.

Post-doctoral Research Associate (Paleography)
Specific duties include  the publication of a monograph on the emergence of the Caucasian scripts and their palaeography, and of further studies relating to the project as well as the organisation of scholarly events. Requirements include a university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate, excellent knowledge of the ancient languages of the Caucasus and surrounding languages, and experience in paleography and manuscript studies.

Doctoral Research Associate (Armenian)
Project results may be used in the in the context of a doctorate or other qualifications on the diachrony of Old Armenian and its interrelations with the surrounding languages. Requirements include a university degree in a relevant field, excellent knowledge of Old Armenian and at least one more of the ancient languages of the Christian East, and good knowledge of surrounding languages.

Doctoral Research Associate (Georgian)
Project results may be used in the in the context of a doctorate or other qualifications on the diachrony of Old Georgian and its interrelations with the surrounding languages. Requirements include a university degree in a relevant field, excellent knowledge of Old Georgian and at least one more of the ancient languages of the Christian East, and good knowledge of surrounding languages.
