The Bodleian Libraries seek a Digitisation Assistant to work within a team focused on the delivery of our digital collections and digital research projects, supporting academics, researchers and librarians across disciplines. The Bodleian Libraries provide a variety of cutting edge digital services, applications and infrastructure for students, researchers and staff of the University of Oxford, as well as digital content and services for public audiences. Recent projects have included the image platform Digital.Bodleian, large scale open access projects, research database development and IIIF software development.
As Digitisation Assistant you will work with a variety of digital materials in order to bring our world-class collections to global audiences, and will take responsibility for the ingest, metadata creation and online delivery of these materials. You will work with software developers, digital curators, Bodleian and college librarians, and project managers to help provide an efficient, reliable, varied and lively digitisation programme.
You will have experience of working with structured records such as cataloguing or metadata and an understanding of specific bibliographic and structural metadata formats (such as METS, DC, MODS, MARC21). You will be highly computer literate with advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to work with .csv files. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a wide range of people and be able to manage your own time and work independently.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 1 year.
