The Faculty of History, University of Oxford invites applications for a Departmental Lecturer in Medieval History. This post is offered in association with St Catherine’s College.

You will be required to contribute across the curriculum through lectures, classes, and tutorials to core undergraduate papers in Medieval History, including undertaking up to eleven hours of tutorial and class teaching a week for St Catherine’s College and contribute to the Faculty Lecture series. In addition to this you will, in support of the development of courses and teaching, manage your own academic research activities and conduct independent research.

You will have research and teaching interests in medieval history (with a preference for medieval European and World history). You will be able to inspire and enthuse students and draw on your own research to inform and augment your teaching. You will also be required to undertake administrative work for the College and Faculty.

You will hold a doctorate in a relevant field (or show evidence that a doctorate is close to completion) and relevant experience of teaching undergraduates. You will demonstrate the ability to produce high quality publications and a familiarity with the existing literature in the field. Excellent communication skills are essential.

You will be a member of the Senior Common Room.
