The Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW) invites applications an editorial researcher for the project Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca et Byzantina. The part-time position will begin as soon as possible for an initial period of two years.

The successful applicant will contribute to a critical edition of Simplikios’s Commentary on Physics and collaborate in the editing of digital resources and publications produced by the project.

Qualifications

• completed studies in Greek philology with a special focus on ancient philosophy,
• good knowledge of philosophical and historical traditions in the field of Greek Aristotelianism,
• proven knowledge in the field of textual criticism and editing technique,
• experience in dealing with medieval manuscripts,
• experience with relevant digital tools (e.g., databases, Classical Text Editor, LaTeX, XML-TEI),
• active command of the German language and at least one other relevant scientific language (English, French, Italian),
• readiness for interdisciplinary work,
• ability to work in a collaborative environment.
