Byzantium to Russia: The Origins & Development of Russian Icons 1200 to 1900, Museum of Russian Icons, May 2–September 12, 2015

The exhibition showcases 48 icons and objects, including metalwork, ivories, and engraved gems, from The British Museum. It includes The British Museum’s icons of Saint John the Baptist and of Saint George and the Dragon, neither of which have been previously exhibited in the United States. The British Museum objects will be joined by icons from the collection of the Museum of Russian Icons.

The exhibition will travel to the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk VA.

Byzantium to Russia was organized by the Museum of Russian Icons and curated by Museum Founder Gordon B. Lankton, Research Fellow Dr. Raoul Smith and Museum CEO and Curator Kent dur Russell.
