The State Hermitage Publishing House has brought out a catalogue Byzantium through the Centuries. The scholarly publication has been produced on the materials of the exhibition “Byzantium through the Centuries” that was held in the State Hermitage between 24 June and 2 October 2017 as part of the Year of Greece in Russia and Russia in Greece, which acquainted the Russian public for the first time with works spanning the whole period of the existence of Byzantine culture.

The catalogue includes exhibits from the collections of museums, libraries and monasteries in Greece: painted and mosaic icons, fragments of mosaics and frescoes, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts and works of jewellery.

The illustrated scholarly publication contains articles written by Yuri Pyatnitsky, Ye. Saranti and Yekaterina Dellaporta, an album section, catalogue descriptions of all the items in the exhibition and a bibliography.
