The Wittgenstein Project “Mobility, Microstructures and Personal Agency in Byzantium” Team announces a lecture and a scholarly conversation with Dr. Nicholas J. B. Evans on the topic "Byzantine Shadow Economies: A Case Study from the Caucasus."

Nicholas J. B. Evans is currently a Junior Research Fellow at Clare College and an Affiliated Lecturer at the Faculty of History of the University of Cambridge. He holds a BA in History and Russian (2011), a MSt in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (2012), and DPhil in History(2016), all from the University of Oxford. His research interest focus on pastoralists in Byzantine sources, global connections in the Caucasus, and the Russian historiography of feudalism and the church in Byzantium and its neighbours.
