Byzantine Church Unearthed in Israel

A Byzantine church dated from the 5th to the 7th century was recently discovered during the expansion of the highway running between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The church is located in the town of Abu Ghosh, about 15 km west of Jerusalem. To the west of the church is a building that has been identified as a roadhouse. In addition to the buildings, excavations have uncovered a number of smaller finds including coins, oil lamps, and fragment fragments.
